Wing Commander Kamal Singh Oberh sets national record

Wing Commander Kamal Singh Oberh created a national record by skydiving with the largest flag at NDA. According to a release, the jump was taken from a height of 7,000 feet in a Mi-17 V-5 helicopter. The flag measured 51 feet and 10 inches in breadth, and 81 feet and 3 inches in length. Oberh’s record surpassed the previous national record created 19 years ago. The flag
was roughly the size of a basketball court. According to the release, Oberh has over 1,300 parachute descents to his credit. He has represented India in various skydiving competitions and is the first Indian to have skydived over Antarctica on January 1, 2000. On April 21, 2002, Oberh undertook a similar skydiving expedition over the North Pole, and became the first Indian to skydive over both extremes of the planet.
