MMA fighter Kimbo Slice dead at 42

Street fighting legend Slice, real name Kevin Ferguson, was taken to hospital from his home in Coral Springs in a “dire situation” according to police. The cause of his death was not immediately apparent. Bellator president Scott Coker released a statement saying, “We are all shocked and saddened by the devastating and untimely loss of Kimbo Slice, a beloved member of the Bellator family. “One of the most popular MMA
fighters ever, Kimbo was a charismatic, larger-than-life personality that transcended the sport. “Outside of the cage he was a friendly, gentle giant and a devoted family man. His loss leaves us all with extremely heavy hearts, and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ferguson family and all of Kimbo’s friends, fans, and teammates.” Slice rose to fame after posting a series of backyard fighting videos on YouTube before signing with EliteXC. He also fought with UFC before signing for Bellator . His last fight was as the co-main event of Bellator 149 on February 19 where he defeated Dhafir Harris, although the result was later changed to a no-contest after Slice tested positive for steroids and elevated testosterone levels.
