International Yoga Day: 3-day Yoga fest begins in Chandigarh

Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice which originated in India. Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition to the world. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action. In the run-up to the International Yoga Day event on June 21, a three day Yoga fest began on Thursday in Chandigarh.After the successful completion of first International Yoga Day held last year on June 21, the
government is all set to prepare for its second edition. In the run-up to the International Yoga Day event on June 21, a three day, Yoga fest began on Thursday in Chandigarh.Beside many international and national scholars and personalities, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the main event on June 21 in the smart city of Chandigarh. The main focus of the this three-day festival is to put emphasis on the fact that Yoga is not just about physical exercises but is more of a way of life, or a methodology to achieve better physical, mental & spiritual health. The inaugural event of this fest in Chandigarh saw the participation of spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.Besides other imminent personalities, BJP MP from Chandigarh Kirron Kher was also present in the fest.Yoga technique, yoga session in the moonlight, and Yoga on wheels' competition will be orgnised during next three days.

The theme of 'Make in India' would be another important feature of this year's yoga Day. 

The mats to be used on Yoga Day would be made of organic materials and T-shirts for Yoga Day have been designed by NID.

On this Yoga day, Yoga's 28 different Asans or posture exercises will be performed which will run for 45 minutes. Till date, thousands of people have registered for the main event to be held on June 21.

Government is leaving no stone unturned to make the second international Yoga day a grand success.
